What I like is the Champaign for kids that we just got done doing! Even though I dont have any chedlrin myself , but I have nieces & newphews and Great Nieces and Newphews! One of my great nieces had to go to Geisinger to the chlldrens hospital to a specialist to have a coin that she had swallowed and was covering her air pipe everytime she breath it would move but the Doctors in our area said it was to serious for theem so they sent her to Geisinger to the chedlrins unit to have an specialist remove the coinand he did and I am thankful! That is why I like that we support our chedlrins hospitals in all our Areas!

Thanks for the great information Ron very coserehpnmive. Richard is absolutely correct when he advises us to start our business succession planning very early in the life of the business as we say, start with the end in mind .

Another situation with qtosuiens that also needs to be guarded against is asking qtosuiens only until we get the answer we want. This type of manipulation can be done without being overly suggestive in how the question is asked. At the moment, the associates will feel like the idea is theirs, but ownership will be lost in the long run as associates realize they were manipulated through the questioning. Also, it is important to continue asking qtosuiens even if the associate's answer is correct. That allows them to think deeper and to understand the Whys behind their answer not just the Whats . However, if a leader is known to be manipulative in their questioning as above, they will become suspicious of the qtosuiens and the learning opportunities are lost.

Hi John,Thanks for the comment.I think you and I are on the same page rrieadgng redeploying excess workers. I probably was not clear enough, so The excess worker comment has to do with the traditional operator balance/optimal crew size analysis activity. Often folks will develop or enhance standard work and determine that the optimal crew size is say X, but then leave the present crew size at the X+1 or X+2, etc. This is because they don't want to upset the apple cart and redeploy the excess workers. True lean transformations provide employment security, especially in light of productivity improvements (downturns in business are a whole different story). However, employment security does not equal job security as in a person is guaranteed their same specific role forever. Sooner or later, organizations must confront this situation and handle it honorable and forthrightly. The traditional lean way to handle redeployment as such is to move the best performers out of the crew to another position, sometimes this is temporarily the kaizen office pool, where the redeployed folks work on kaizen.Best regards,Mark
